WATER PRESSURE: GETTING THE RIGHT FLOW

WATER PRESSURE: GETTING THE RIGHT FLOW

Water pressure can be a big pain for many people. Sometimes the flow is just too strong to handle and other times it slow to a trickle. Understanding the factors that can effect your water pressure can help you get your pressure just right.

Low water pressure
Almost everyone living in an urban area has their water supplied by a municipal company. Water travels to your home through underground mains piplelines. The water pressure in the mains is extremely high. The pressure decreases as it reaches your home – which is a good thing. However, if your water pressure is too low it is a sign of a problem with your service. It may mean that there is too much friction to allow the water to flow at a sufficient rate. It may be that your pipes are too small.

Blockage
Sometimes a blockage in the in the pipes can result in low water pressure. Having the blockage cleared should see your water pressure return to normal.
