The key to repairing your pipes without all the hassle

The key to repairing your pipes without all the hassle

When you think of the plumbing in your home, your mind immediately goes to your sinks, your showers and tubs, your toilet and your hot water heater, not to the network of pipes that travel underground and deliver water to your home. Although underground pipes suffer from the out of sight, out of mind phenomenon, they are a vital part of your home’s plumbing system.

When your underground pipes become damaged, they can cause a number of problems, including:

  • Decreased water pressure
  • Sudden lack of water from the taps
  • Damage to your landscaping
  • Foundation damage
  • Leaks in the basement of your home
  • Increased water bills and water consumption

All underground pipes undergo some degree of wear and tear as they age, but many things can cause unexpected damage to the pipes, such as:

  • Flaws in workmanship that remain from when the pipes were originally installed
  • Excavation to install a pool or patio
  • Surface paving on a driveway
  • Infiltration from tree roots
  • Extreme temperature fluctuations associated with harsh weather conditions

When underground pipes become damaged, they can crack and begin leaking water. They can also become partially clogged due to corrosion or burst suddenly and leave your home without a readily available water supply.

Traditionally, repairing underground pipes required digging into the ground to access the plumbing. This resulted in high labor costs from the plumber as well as costs associated with replanting grass, replacing landscaping and fixing driveways, sidewalks, patios and other surfaces.

Today, an exciting new technology called Cured-in-Place-Pipe Inversion Relining is making it possible to repair pipes without tearing up a yard.

With this method of pipe repair, the pipes themselves are not completely replaced. Instead, they are filled with a unique epoxy lining. From outside, the lining can be fed into the pipes by an experienced plumber trained in Cured-in-Place-Pipe Inversion Relining techniques.

Once it enters the plumbing system, the epoxy liner easily travels through the damaged pipes, conforming to the size of the pipes through which it passes. This means that a single piece can be used in a series of pipes that are all different measurements in diameter.

After installation, Cured-in-Place-Pipe Inversion Relining results in what can be thought of as a pipe within a pipe. Water can once again freely travel through the plumbing system without leaking, and the grounds surrounding a home remain in perfect condition.

Cured-in-Place-Pipe Inversion Relining can be used to address a wide variety of plumbing problems. To find out if this solution is right for you, contact Sydney Emergency Plumbing today.
